 1                    AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 291

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend Senate Bill 291,  AS  AMENDED,
 3    by  replacing  everything  after the enacting clause with the
 4    following:

 5        "Section 5. The Counties  Code  is  amended  by  changing
 6    Section 3-6020 as follows:

 7        (55 ILCS 5/3-6020) (from Ch. 34, par. 3-6020)
 8        Sec.   3-6020.    Contempt   of   court;   damages.   The
 9    disobedience  of  any  sheriff  to perform the command of any
10    warrant, process, order or judgment legally issued to him  or
11    her,  shall be deemed a contempt of the court that issued the
12    same, and may be punished accordingly; and he or she shall be
13    liable to the party aggrieved  for   all  damages  occasioned
14    thereby.  No  sheriff shall be civilly liable for serving, as
15    directed by  the  court,  any  warrant,  order,  process,  or
16    judgment  that  has been issued or affirmed by a court of the
17    State of Illinois and that is valid on its face,  unless  the
18    service involved willful or wanton misconduct by the sheriff.
