 1                    AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 154

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend Senate Bill 154 on page 1,  by
 3    replacing line 22 with the following:
 4    "transportation purposes for expenditures for public highways
 5    or  as authorized under the Illinois Highway Code, the county
 6    board must publish notice"; and

 7    on page 1, by replacing line 27 with the following:
 8    "imposing the tax. If the tax is imposed  for  transportation
 9    purposes  for expenditures for passenger rail transportation,
10    the county board must publish notice of the existence of  its
11    long-range  passenger  rail transportation plan and must make
12    the  plan  publicly  available  prior  to  approval  of   the
13    ordinance  or  resolution  imposing the tax. The county clerk
14    shall certify the"; and

15    on page 2, by replacing lines 23 and 24 with the following:
16        "purposes means construction, maintenance, operation, and
17        improvement of public highways,  any  other  purpose  for
18        which  a  county  may  expend  funds  under  the Illinois
19        Highway Code, and passenger rail transportation."; and

20    on page  8,  by  replacing  lines  32  through  34  with  the
21    following:
22    "maintenance,  operation, and improvement of public highways,

 2    the    Illinois    Highway    Code,    and   passenger   rail
 3    transportation.".
