1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Edwin H. Walker IV served as president of the
3 Maywood Chamber of Commerce from 1989 to 1993 and from 1997
4 to 2003; and
5 WHEREAS, Edwin H. Walker IV was instrumental in obtaining
6 a grant in 1997 for the work of the Drug-Free Workplace
7 Committee; and
8 WHEREAS, Edwin H. Walker IV assisted the Gold Card
9 Committee in obtaining the Governor's Hometown Award in 1998;
10 and
11 WHEREAS, Edwin H. Walker IV was instrumental in major
12 Bylaw Revisions for the Chamber in 2000; and
13 WHEREAS, Edwin H. Walker IV was instrumental in having
14 the Chamber obtain a grant from the Illinois Department of
15 Commerce and Community Affairs in 2001 for the development of
16 a web site and obtaining office equipment; and
17 WHEREAS, Edwin H. Walker IV initiated the Strategic
18 Planning Retreat for the Board of Directors in 2002; and
19 WHEREAS, Edwin H. Walker IV assisted in writing a
20 Memorandum of Understanding with the Maywood Public Library
21 in 2002 regarding the establishment of an office for the
22 Chamber and the formation of a web site; and
23 WHEREAS, Edwin H. Walker IV has developed a spirit of
24 "family" among members of the Chamber of Commerce; and
25 WHEREAS, Edwin H. Walker IV has shown untiring dedication
26 by participating in committees of the Chamber and attending
27 meetings of outside groups related to Chamber concerns; and
28 WHEREAS, Edwin H. Walker IV has served as vice president
29 of the Maywood Bataan Day Organization and has helped in

1 planning the Memorial Service each year; therefore, be it
2 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
4 we congratulate Edwin H. Walker IV on the occasion of his
5 retirement after serving as president of the Maywood Chamber
6 of Commerce from 1989 to 1993 and since 1997; and be it
7 further
8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9 presented to Edwin H. Walker IV as an expression of our
10 respect and esteem and with our thanks for his faithful
11 service to his community.
