AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 0679

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 0679 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the following:

"Section 5. The Children's Health Insurance Program Act is amended by changing Section 22 as follows:

(215 ILCS 106/22)

Sec. 22. Enrollment in program; funding for community organizations.

(a) The Department shall develop procedures to allow community providers, schools, youth service agencies, employers, labor unions, local chambers of commerce, and religious organizations to assist in enrolling children in the Program.

(b) Subject to specific appropriation, the Department shall provide funding to community organizations for outreach activities, which could include assistance in completing the application process and forwarding the application to the State for processing. Community organizations will be required to provide specific services and will be held accountable for providing those services. If a community organization does not provide those services, the organization will be required to return funds to the Department.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 2004.".
