 1                     AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 536

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend House Bill 536 on page  2,  by
 3    replacing lines 25 through 30 with the following:

 4        "Section    20.  Limitation.    An    action   based   on
 5    gender-related violence as defined in paragraph (1) or (2) of
 6    Section 5 must be commenced within 7 years after the cause of
 7    action accrued, except that if the person entitled  to  bring
 8    the  action  was  a  minor  at  the  time the cause of action
 9    accrued, the action must be commenced within  7  years  after
10    the  person  reaches  the  age  of  18.  An  action  based on
11    gender-related  violence  as  defined  in  paragraph  (3)  of
12    Section 5 must be commenced within 2 years after the cause of
13    action accrued, except that if the person entitled  to  bring
14    the  action  was  a  minor  at  the  time the cause of action
15    accrued, the action must be commenced within  2  years  after
16    the person reaches the age of 18.".
