SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert G. "Bob" Nelson of Crystal Lake, who passed away on February 16, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Robert Nelson was born in Crystal Lake on June 26, 1929 to George and Rose (nee Gaebe) Nelson; he graduated from Crystal Lake Central High School in 1947, where he played varsity basketball, and attended Northern Illinois University, where he also played basketball; he served in the United States Army during the Korean War; he married Barbara Brayton; and

WHEREAS, Robert Nelson volunteered many hours with the McHenry County Historical Society and at Cary United Methodist Church; and

WHEREAS, Robert Nelson enjoyed fishing at his cabin in Wisconsin and at his house on Kristy Lane in Cary; he was an avid outdoorsman and liked to "tinker" with objects in and around the house; he organized an Easter egg hunt that became a yearly family tradition; and

WHEREAS, Robert Nelson was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; and

WHEREAS, Robert Nelson is survived by his children, Linda (Paul) Hoefert, Bob Nelson, and Susan (Dennis) Rasmussen; his grandchildren, Alex, Andrew, Dana (Jessica), Erik (Erica), and Kyle (Tiffani); his 8 great-grandchildren; his brother, Melvin Nelson; his niece, Mary; and his nephew, Mark; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert G. "Bob" Nelson, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Robert Nelson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
