SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Percell Searcy, III.; and

WHEREAS, Percell Searcy, III was born in Chicago on August 4, 1988 to Gladys and Percell Searcy, Jr.; he was a member of the New Faith Baptist Church, joining in 2005; he graduated from Rich Central High School in 2006, attended Cheney University of Pennsylvania, and earned his associates degree in Biology from Prairie State Community College in 2009; he continued taking science courses at Governors State University; and

WHEREAS, Percell Searcy, III was gifted in science, math, art, writing, and music; he was known for his originality, creativity, verbal ability, and artistic talent, as well as for his passionate world views which were the subject of many of his songs and self-produced CDs; he was always concerned about oppressive societal conditions and the plight of those deemed "outside the mainstream"; and

WHEREAS, Percell Searcy, III enjoyed team sports, becoming a Taekwondo Black Belt, chess matches, and video games; and

WHEREAS, Percell Searcy, III is survived by his parents; his sister, Stephanie (Reuben); his brothers, McKinley Gray (Dorothy) and Anthony Hatcher; his uncles, Franklin Searcy (Marvin), Leonard Muhammed (Donna), and Earnest Searcy (Melba); his aunts, Ramona Christian, Jackie Currie (Robert), Iniece Brooks, Lydia, and Shamieka Searcy; and many cousins, in addition to Tamela, Gregory, Ilene, Naomi, Ketura, Adrian, Maria, Leonard Jr., Aisha, and Amira; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Percell Searcy, III, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Percell Searcy, III as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
