SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dorothy D. Darrow, who passed away on December 11, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Darrow was born in Kanawha, Iowa; she married Robert Darrow in 1949; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Darrow earned her associate's degree from Iowa State University; and

WHEREAS, As a young woman, Dorothy Darrow worked in her uncle's exporting business; in 1960, she and her husband settled in Wheaton, where she took a job as an office assistant at the Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton; she rose through the ranks quickly, eventually becoming the club's general manager, a position she served in for 53 years until her retirement in October of 2013; in addition to her office duties, she worked at the club as a hostess, tended bar, served at buffets, and oversaw kitchen and wait staff; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Darrow will be fondly remembered by her family, friends, and the members and staff of the Chicago Golf Club as a charming and cordial woman whose quick smile and great dedication endeared her to everyone she met; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Darrow was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Darrow is survived by her daughters, Debbie and Vicki; her son, Rob Roy; her brother, Robert Darrah; her sister, Doris Ann LaBounty; her 5 grandchildren; and her 6 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Dorothy D. Darrow; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dorothy Darrow as an expression of our sympathy.
