SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dorothy D. Darrow, who passed away on
4December 11, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dorothy Darrow was born in Kanawha, Iowa; she
6married Robert Darrow in 1949; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dorothy Darrow earned her associate's degree from
8Iowa State University; and
 
9    WHEREAS, As a young woman, Dorothy Darrow worked in her
10uncle's exporting business; in 1960, she and her husband
11settled in Wheaton, where she took a job as an office assistant
12at the Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton; she rose through the ranks
13quickly, eventually becoming the club's general manager, a
14position she served in for 53 years until her retirement in
15October of 2013; in addition to her office duties, she worked
16at the club as a hostess, tended bar, served at buffets, and
17oversaw kitchen and wait staff; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dorothy Darrow will be fondly remembered by her
19family, friends, and the members and staff of the Chicago Golf
20Club as a charming and cordial woman whose quick smile and
21great dedication endeared her to everyone she met; and

1    WHEREAS, Dorothy Darrow was preceded in death by her
2husband, Robert; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Dorothy Darrow is survived by her daughters,
4Debbie and Vicki; her son, Rob Roy; her brother, Robert Darrah;
5her sister, Doris Ann LaBounty; her 5 grandchildren; and her 6
6great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
9family and friends, mourn the passing of Dorothy D. Darrow; and
10be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Dorothy Darrow as an expression of
13our sympathy.
