SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Anton Scharko of Woodstock, who passed away on December 21, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Anton Scharko was born on August 8, 1919 in Perekale, Ukraine to Adam and Mary (nee Babiejczyk) Scharko; he married Mary Tatzer in Leutschach, Austria in February of 1947; they settled in Woodstock in 1953; and

WHEREAS, Anton Scharko worked for Woodstock Auto-Lite from 1953 until his retirement in 1984; and

WHEREAS, Anton Scharko was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Woodstock; he enjoyed maintaining his vegetable garden, collecting and restoring antiques, and entertaining visitors to his home; and

WHEREAS, Anton Scharko was preceded in death by his parents, and by his wife of 57 years, Mary; and

WHEREAS, Anton Scharko is survived by his daughters, Maria (Art) Santos and Jane (Brian) Palmer; his grandchildren, Thomas Mathews, Anthony (Ashley) Mathews, Katie Mathews, and Kelly Mathews; and his great-grandchild, Wyatt Mathews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Anton Scharko, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Anton Scharko as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
