SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dorothy Jean Galloway of Rockford, who
4passed away on September 29, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dorothy Galloway was born on March 2, 1948 in
6DeKalb to Leo and Erma (nee Henke) Galloway; she graduated from
7Lincoln High School and studied at the University of
8Wisconsin-Stevens Point before moving to Rockford; she married
9Howard "Eddie" Riddle; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dorothy Galloway had a long career in retail at
11Rockford Stevens before moving into the marketing and public
12relations field; most recently she worked for Cevene Care
13Clinic in Rockford; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Dorothy Galloway was a community volunteer and
15advocate for many Rockford area non-profit organizations; she
16was an avid promoter of the arts and was involved in many
17fundraisers, boards, and charitable organizations, including
18MotherHouse, the Aids Care Network, the Hunger Connection, and
19the Northern Illinois Food Bank; affectionately known to those
20around her as Toots, Jeanie, Galloway, or Dorth, she was
21awarded the "Spirit of Caring" award from the Crusader Clinic,
22which is given to individuals or organizations who exhibit

1unique kindness and concern for others in the community; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Dorothy Galloway was preceded in death by her
3father, Leo; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Dorothy Galloway is survived by her husband,
5Howard Riddle; her mother, Erma Galloway; her brother, James
6Galloway; her niece, Heather (Tim) McKellips; and her
7great-nephews, Connor, Ethan, and Finnegan McKellips;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Dorothy Jean Galloway and extend our sincere condolences to her
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Dorothy Galloway as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
