SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dorothy Jean Galloway of Rockford, who passed away on September 29, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Galloway was born on March 2, 1948 in DeKalb to Leo and Erma (nee Henke) Galloway; she graduated from Lincoln High School and studied at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point before moving to Rockford; she married Howard "Eddie" Riddle; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Galloway had a long career in retail at Rockford Stevens before moving into the marketing and public relations field; most recently she worked for Cevene Care Clinic in Rockford; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Galloway was a community volunteer and advocate for many Rockford area non-profit organizations; she was an avid promoter of the arts and was involved in many fundraisers, boards, and charitable organizations, including MotherHouse, the Aids Care Network, the Hunger Connection, and the Northern Illinois Food Bank; affectionately known to those around her as Toots, Jeanie, Galloway, or Dorth, she was awarded the "Spirit of Caring" award from the Crusader Clinic, which is given to individuals or organizations who exhibit unique kindness and concern for others in the community; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Galloway was preceded in death by her father, Leo; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Galloway is survived by her husband, Howard Riddle; her mother, Erma Galloway; her brother, James Galloway; her niece, Heather (Tim) McKellips; and her great-nephews, Connor, Ethan, and Finnegan McKellips; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dorothy Jean Galloway and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dorothy Galloway as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
