SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Carolyn Ann Greene Axt of Peoria, who passed away on September 30, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Carolyn Axt was born on September 29, 1929 in Peoria to Howard and Margaret (nee Turnbull) Greene; she graduated from Peoria (Central) High School in 1947 and from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana in 1951, with a degree in Journalism, where she was Alpha Chi Omega; she married Don Axt on November 1, 1958; and

WHEREAS, Carolyn Axt worked for Thompson Advertising and CILCO (now Ameren); and

WHEREAS, Carolyn Axt was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, serving as Deacon and Elder; she was active in the Methodist Hospital Service League, the As You Like It Club, and the Fine Arts Society; she served on the board of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, the Kickapoo Council of Girl Scouts, the Friendship House, and the Westminster Infant Care Center; and

WHEREAS, Carolyn Axt was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary Barbara (Richard) Faville; and her brother, John Greene; and

WHEREAS, Carolyn Axt is survived by her husband, Don; her children, Amy (John) Hanson, David Axt, and Carla Axt-Pilon; and her grandchildren, Alice Axt-Pilon, Betsy Pilon, and Rosemary and Will Hanson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Carolyn Ann Greene Axt, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Carolyn Axt as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
