SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jeanne Marie Petkus of Waukegan, who passed away on July 5, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Jeanne Petkus was born on February 1, 1956, in Waukegan to Anthony J. and Irene B. (nee Perkowski) Petkus; she received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Illinois State University in Bloomington-Normal in 1977; she obtained her Master's degree in Education from National College of Education in Evanston, now National Louis University; and

WHEREAS, Jeanne Petkus began her career as a teacher at St. Anastasia Catholic School in Waukegan from 1977 to 1986; for the past 27 years, she served as the principal of St. Joseph School in Round Lake; and

WHEREAS, Jeanne Petkus enjoyed tending to her flowers and spending time with her family; she was a dedicated caretaker for her parents; and

WHEREAS, Jeanne Petkus is survived by her brothers, Anthony "Dick" (Gail) Petkus and Jim (Mary) Petkus; her nieces, Debbi (Scott) Clawson, Chrissy (Paul) Novotny, and Jennifer Petkus; her nephew, Michael (Amy) Petkus; her great-niece, Kaitlyn; her great-nephews, Mullen, Wyatt, Daniel, and Benjamin; and dear friends, Maureen Creeden and Chris Mendralla; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jeanne Marie Petkus, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jeanne Petkus as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
