SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard B. Maye, Ph.D., who passed away
4on July 13, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Maye was born on October 25, 1933, in
6Newbern, Alabama; his parents were Johnnie Boykin and Frances
7Mayin; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Maye served his country as a member of
9the United States Army; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Maye served as an Assistant Professor
11of Sociology at Illinois College from 2001 until his passing;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Maye was inducted into the 1980-1981
14edition of Who's Who of America and was a founding member of
15One Church One Child, which earned him an invitation to the
16White House; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Maye was ordained as a minister at
18Grace Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio; he started his ministry
19in Springfield at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church before founding
20Second Timothy Baptist Church in 1988; and

1    WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Maye was preceded in death by his
2parents and his grandchild; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Maye is survived by his sons, Darryl
4Maye, Byron K. Maye, and Larry Lewis-Maye; his brothers, John
5Boykin and Scott Boykin; his sister, Mary Ann Boykin; his 3
6grandchildren; his 4 nieces; his 2 nephews; and his many
7cousins; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
10family and friends, mourn the passing of Richard B. Maye,
11Ph.D.; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Dr. Richard Maye as an expression of
14our sympathy.
