SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Peter N. Kanel of Waukegan, who passed away on June 21, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Peter Kanel was born on May 29, 1934, in Evanston to Nicholas and Peggy (nee Proferis) Kanel and was a lifelong area resident; he served in the United States Marine Corps; and

WHEREAS, Peter Kanel worked for Amco Tools and Johnson Motors; for the last 14 years, he worked at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee; and

WHEREAS, Peter Kanel was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Waukegan; and

WHEREAS, Peter Kanel was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Peter Kanel is survived by his sister, Mary Katris; his son, Nick (Coree) Kanel; his daughters, Mary and Patty Kanel; his nephews, George Katris and Peter (Mary) Katris; and by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Peter N. Kanel, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Peter Kanel as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
