SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William "Bill" Edwin Palmatier of Peoria,
4who passed away on March 14, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, William Palmatier was born on July 17, 1943, in
6LaSalle-Peru to William Palmatier, the long-time mayor of
7Peoria, and Marion Hoelle Palmatier; he attended Horace Mann in
8Gary, Indiana, and Morgan Park Military Academy in Chicago; he
9graduated from LaSalle-Peru High School in 1961 and married
10Janice Glupczynski in Peru on August 27, 1966; and
 
11    WHEREAS, William Palmatier worked for Bauer Buick while
12attending Bradley University, graduating with a business
13degree in accounting in 1967; he worked for Illinois Mutual
14Life Insurance Company for over 39 years as the executive
15vice-president and controller, retiring in December 2009; and
 
16    WHEREAS, William Palmatier's commitment to his community
17saw him serve on the boards for Bank Plus, Junior Achievement,
18Lakeview Museum, Community Leadership School, the Boy Scouts of
19America, and the Illinois Mutual Board of Directors; and
 
20    WHEREAS, William Palmatier was a lifelong parishioner of
21St. Vincent de Paul Parish, a member of the Creve Coeur Club,

1and Mt. Hawley Country Club of Peoria; he was a racing fan and
2attended The Skip Barber and Richard Petty Racing Schools; he
3rode in the pace car with 4-time Indy 500 winner Al Unser, Sr.
4and fulfilled his dream of driving an actual IndyCar at the
5Indianapolis Motor Speedway; and
 
6    WHEREAS, William Palmatier is survived by his wife of 46
7years, Janice; his children, Suzie Palmatier Babovac (Anthony)
8and Molly Palmatier Tittle (Scott); his grandchildren, Lindsey
9and Lexi Babovac and Holyn and William ("Will") Tittle; and his
10sister, Barbara Mast (George); therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13William Palmatier, and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of William Palmatier as an expression
18of our deepest sympathy.
