SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William "Bill" Edwin Palmatier of Peoria, who passed away on March 14, 2013; and

WHEREAS, William Palmatier was born on July 17, 1943, in LaSalle-Peru to William Palmatier, the long-time mayor of Peoria, and Marion Hoelle Palmatier; he attended Horace Mann in Gary, Indiana, and Morgan Park Military Academy in Chicago; he graduated from LaSalle-Peru High School in 1961 and married Janice Glupczynski in Peru on August 27, 1966; and

WHEREAS, William Palmatier worked for Bauer Buick while attending Bradley University, graduating with a business degree in accounting in 1967; he worked for Illinois Mutual Life Insurance Company for over 39 years as the executive vice-president and controller, retiring in December 2009; and

WHEREAS, William Palmatier's commitment to his community saw him serve on the boards for Bank Plus, Junior Achievement, Lakeview Museum, Community Leadership School, the Boy Scouts of America, and the Illinois Mutual Board of Directors; and

WHEREAS, William Palmatier was a lifelong parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, a member of the Creve Coeur Club, and Mt. Hawley Country Club of Peoria; he was a racing fan and attended The Skip Barber and Richard Petty Racing Schools; he rode in the pace car with 4-time Indy 500 winner Al Unser, Sr. and fulfilled his dream of driving an actual IndyCar at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway; and

WHEREAS, William Palmatier is survived by his wife of 46 years, Janice; his children, Suzie Palmatier Babovac (Anthony) and Molly Palmatier Tittle (Scott); his grandchildren, Lindsey and Lexi Babovac and Holyn and William ("Will") Tittle; and his sister, Barbara Mast (George); therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of William Palmatier, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William Palmatier as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
