SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Renee Schoonover of Fisher, who passed away on March 9, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Renee Schoonover served as the executive secretary to the director at Lincoln's Challenge Academy in Rantoul; in that capacity and as a case worker, she helped to turn around the lives of countless young people over her 17-year career there; and

WHEREAS, Renee Schoonover was in charge of preparing the academy's team for GED Jeopardy, a scholastic competition, and led the team to victory on numerous occasions; and

WHEREAS, Renee Schoonover served her country as a member of the United States Air Force for over 20 years; she was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal with 4 oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 2 oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 4 oak leaf clusters, the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Overseas Ribbon (long tour), the Air Force Longevity Service Award ribbon with 3 oak leaf clusters, the Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Military Education ribbon, and the Air Force training ribbon for her meritorious service; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Renee Schoonover; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Renee Schoonover as an expression of our sympathy.
