SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Christopher "Chris" Kanis, who passed away on March 21, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Kanis served as a Champaign County assistant state's attorney for 8 years; and

WHEREAS, Prior to his service as assistant state's attorney, Christopher Kanis had worked at various law firms doing civil work and had clerked for the Illinois Supreme Court; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Kanis is survived by his loving wife of 9 years, Laura Steigmann Kanis; his parents, Michael Kanis and Michelle Hudson; his sister, Kathleen Williams (Luke); his nephews, King, Patrick, and Matthew; his niece, Isabel; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Robert and Sherry Steigmann; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Christopher "Chris" Kanis; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Christopher Kanis as an expression of our sympathy.
