SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Patricia Anne (Fitzmorris) Floeter of
4Crystal Lake, who passed away on March 15, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Patricia Floeter was born on December 27, 1932, to
6Daniel Michael and Patricia Edith Fitzmorris in Peoria; she was
7raised in Skokie, attended St. Peter's Grade School, and
8graduated from Mallinckrodt High School in Wilmette; she
9received her bachelors degree in chemistry from Mundelein
10College (now Loyola University) in 1954; she married Conrad F.
11Floeter on November 27, 1954, at Saint Peter's Catholic Church
12in Skokie; they spent the first year together in Las Cruces,
13New Mexico, while stationed at the U.S. Army White Sands
14Proving Ground; she received her masters at Northern Illinois
15University in 1973; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Patricia Floeter was the first chemist hired by
17the county for the health department water lab in response to
18the Clean Water Act of 1971; eventually she began working for
19Commonwealth Edison and retired as a engineer from Commonwealth
20Edison, Byron Nuclear Power Station; in retirement, she founded
21Hazardous Material Management Systems, a consulting and
22training company for federal and State environmental and safety
23regulations; and

1    WHEREAS, Patricia Floeter served on the Algonquin Township
2Board as a trustee and was subsequently elected supervisor; she
3was a long-time member of the American Chemical Society,
4serving a term as a national delegate for the Chicago Section,
5and was a former member of the Rockford chapter of the American
6Society of Mechanical Engineers; she was a member of AAUW, the
7Rotary Club of Crystal Lake Dawnbreakers, a Paul Harris Fellow,
8the McHenry County Republican Party, and a founding member of
9the McHenry County Environmental Defenders; she served as
10chairman of the McHenry County Local Emergency Planning
11Committee and served on the finance committee of Saint Thomas
12the Apostle Catholic Church; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Patricia Floeter was preceded in death by her
14husband of 47 years, Conrad; her parents; her infant grandson,
15Madison; her sister, Sheila Cardinell; and her brother-in-law,
16Joseph Floeter; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Patricia Floeter is survived by her children,
18Conrad (Donna Lee), Mary Kay (Ted Usdin), Daniel (Nancy), John
19(Judy), Thomas (Rebekah), and William (Deanna); her
20grandchildren, Anna Rose and Mary Grace Floeter, Ben (Natalie),
21Luke (Katherine), Ian, and Mara Floeter, Katherine (Kyle) Bush,
22Lily and Simon Floeter, Ryan and Justin Floeter, and Hannah and
23Christopher Floeter; her great-grandsons, Oscar and Charlie;

1her sister-in-law, Frances Floeter; her numerous nieces and
2nephews, and many cousins, especially Ashleigh Staley; she is
3also survived by Bosnian refugees Denis and Sasha (Heidi)
4Traup, Rotary Exchange student Paola Zamarron, and many dear
5friends and neighbors; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Patricia Floeter, and we extend our sincere condolences to her
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Patricia Floeter as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
