SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Barry Leon Nixon of Venice, Florida, who
4passed away on October 8, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Barry Nixon was born in Bloomington on February
618, 1941 to Paul and Lois Nixon; he graduated from Mansfield
7High School in 1958 and Eastern Illinois University in 1962;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Barry Nixon began his teaching and coaching career
10at Bloomington High School, where he discovered his love of
11tennis; he led the Raiders to 2 State titles and multiple
12individual championships; he was a member of the Illinois High
13School Tennis Coaches Association Hall of Fame and received
14numerous other awards and recognitions; after retiring in 1994,
15he became the men's tennis coach at Illinois State University
16until 1999; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Barry Nixon is survived by his wife and best
18friend, Peggy Nixon; his sister, Dixie Mulligan; his sons,
19Steve Nixon and Eric (Ellen) Nixon; his step-sons, Erik (Annie)
20Borling and Karl Borling; his granddaughter, Julia; and his
21grandson, Brett; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Barry Leon Nixon, and extend our sincere condolences to his
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Barry Nixon as an expression of our
8deepest sympathy.
