SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3recognize Earlean Collins on the occasion of her retirement as
4Cook County Commissioner; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Commissioner Collins has dedicated her life to
6public service, serving 37 years of elected public office; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Commissioner Collins was the first black female
8elected to the Illinois Senate and the first female Assistant
9Majority Leader and is the longest serving female elected
10official in the State of Illinois; and
 
11    WHEREAS, A celebration in honor of Commissioner Collins
12will be held on October 17, 2014 at The 500 Room at the
13Professional Building at Rush University Medical Center;
14therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Earlean
17Collins on her retirement as Cook County Commissioner, thank
18her for her dedication to public service, and wish her the best
19in all her future endeavors; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That we proclaim October 17, 2014 as "Earlean

1Collins Day" in the State of Illinois; and be it further
 
2    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3presented to Commissioner Collins as an expression of our
4esteem and respect.
