SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jean L. Davis of Lacon, who passed away on July 30, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Jean Davis was born on January 2, 1940 to Raymond and Cecelia Engelbrecht Stange and raised in Henry; she married Earl Davis on July 2, 1960; and

WHEREAS, Jean Davis served as the Marshall County Circuit Clerk for 25 years; she later worked as the Managing Director of the Marshall County Historical Society; she also served as an alderman for the east ward on the Lacon City Council; she published the History of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Henry, and was a Rotarian, serving as past-President and cultural exchange member to Sweden; she was a board member for Boy Scouts in Lacon; and

WHEREAS, Jean Davis was a Master Gardner and helped create gardens at the Marshall County Courthouse, Henry and Lacon Catholic Churches, and the Heading House in Peoria; and

WHEREAS, Jean Davis was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; and

WHEREAS, Jean Davis is survived by her daughter, Anita (Kelly) Thul; son, Errol (Karen) Davis; brother, Raymond (Debbie) Stange; sisters, Patricia (Frank) Poskocil, Rita (Lewis) Simpkins, Jan (the late Tom) Simpkins, Margi Koors, and Sharon Bumgardner; and her grandchildren, Sarah, Karen, Renee, Aaron, and Karina; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jean L. Davis, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jean Davis as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
