SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Bernadine J. Fitzgerald of Mahomet, formerly of Champaign-Urbana, who passed away on May 27, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Bernadine Fitzgerald was born on March 27, 1924 in Kewanee; she married Jim Fitzgerald in 1947; and

WHEREAS, Bernadine Fitzgerald graduated from the University of Iowa, where she became an Alpha Chi and one of the first female cheerleaders for the Hawkeyes; and

WHEREAS, Bernadine Fitzgerald was a homemaker; she was also involved with the local chapters of PEO and Alpha Chi and worked for many other charitable volunteer groups; and

WHEREAS, Bernadine Fitzgerald is survived by her husband, Jim Fitzgerald; 4 children, Laurel Ellis (Dan), Kevin Fitzgerald (Pat), Mary Fitzgerald, and Patrick Fitzgerald (Susan); 9 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Bernadine J. Fitzgerald; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bernadine Fitzgerald as an expression of our sympathy.
