SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Norbert R. Cora of Joliet, who passed away on May 14, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Norbert Cora was born in Joliet on October 2, 1924 to Angelo and Appolonia (nee Sartori) Cora; he served in the United States Navy on a LST221 in the South Pacific during World War II; he married Irene Mitrovich in 1946; and

WHEREAS, Norbert Cora was the co-founder of Dellwood Tire with his brother-in-law, John Mitrovich in 1948; and

WHEREAS, Norbert Cora converted to the Eastern Orthodox Christian Faith late in life; and

WHEREAS, Norbert Cora was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Irene Cora, and by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Norbert Cora is survived by his daughter, Connie (Judge Gerald) Kinney; sons, Michael (Nancy) and David (Joyce) Cora; grandchildren, Christina (Kevin) Troc, Brian Kinney, Jonathan (Laura), Natalie, Nicholas (Jacquie-fiancee) Cora, Jennifer (fiance Thomas), Nicole (Jeff) Kazen, and Melissa Cora; and great-grandchildren, Autumn, Lorena, Katrina, Shane, and Irene; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Norbert R. Cora, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Norbert Cora as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
