SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Wendel Dschida, Jr. of Richmond, who passed away on April 16, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Wendel Dschida, Jr. was born in Gakowa, Serbia on October 21, 1928 to Wendel and Theresia (nee Stein) Dschida; he married Anna Lina in Europe on October 15, 1952; he emigrated from Germany to the United States in 1957 and became a U.S. citizen in 1963; and

WHEREAS, Wendel Dschida, Jr. worked in Chicago from 1957 to 1968 as a maintenance engineer and electrician; he moved out of Chicago and co-founded Astro Craft, a machine shop, in 1968, and was the office manager until his retirement in 1989; and

WHEREAS, Wendel Dschida, Jr. was an active member of the McHenry County Beekeepers; he enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, deer hunting trips to Wisconsin, caribou hunting in Quebec, Canada, and hunting trips to Wyoming and Montana; he was a loyal owner of Vizslas (Hungarian hunting dogs), who were his constant companions when pheasant hunting; he also enjoyed fishing vacations with his grandchildren in Canada; his extensive travels took him to Germany, Austria, Hungary, Italy, and Hawaii and he took cruises to the Caribbean, Panama, and Alaska; he spent many winter seasons in sunny Florida; and

WHEREAS, Wendel Dschida, Jr. was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg and a member of the American Aid Society; and

WHEREAS, Wendel Dschida, Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, and by his wife, Anna; and

WHEREAS, Wendel Dschida, Jr. is survived by his children, Edward and Otto (Linda) Dschida; 5 grandchildren, Dorothy (Joe Agati) Dschida, Theresia Dschida, Elisa (Jon) Doyle, and Michael and Robert Dschida; great-granddaughters, Tahlia and Evienne Doyle; his brother, Martin (Elisabeth) Dschida; and his dear friend, Elisabeth; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Wendel Dschida, Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Wendel Dschida, Jr. as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
