SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Stephen Koper of Beach Park, who passed way on February 7, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Koper was born on July 4, 1919, in North Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Koper and his wife, Helen, owned and operated Koper Foods in the Old Polish section of North Chicago for 32 years; he served as trustee for Waukegan Township for 17 years and was a member and president of the Lions Club; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Koper enjoyed golfing at Foss Park; he was a big White Sox fan and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Koper was preceded in death by his parents; his 3 sisters; and one brother; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Koper is survived by his wife of 70 years, Helen; his sons, Thomas and Steve Koper; his brother, Bob (Diane) Koper; his grandchildren, Mike Koper, Cathy (Dean) Miscenic, Laura (Ralph) Strathmann, Joseph (Carleigh) Koper, Mandy (Shane) Gruchow; his 9 great-grandchildren; and his many other relatives and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Stephen Koper, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Stephen Koper as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
