AN ACT concerning regulation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Elevator Safety and Regulation Act is amended by changing Section 50 as follows:

Sec. 50. Qualifications for elevator inspector's license.

(a) No inspector's license shall be granted to any person who has not paid the required application fee.

(b) No inspector's license shall be granted to any person, unless he or she has been certified as meeting the requirements of ASME QEI-1 by a nationally or internationally recognized independent organization concerned with personnel certification he or she proves to the satisfaction of the Administrator that he or she meets the current ASME QEI-1, Standards for the Qualifications of Elevator Inspectors.
