HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to honor Norma Everett on over 50
4years as a member of Republican women's clubs; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Norma Everett grew up in Cyahoga Falls, Ohio, the
6older sister to a younger brother and sister; she took piano
7lessons, tap-dancing lessons, learned to play the ukulele, and
8won a local spelling-bee contest in high school; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Norma Everett married Tom Everett, who was in the
10United States Navy and served during World War II; they spent
11time living in Puerto Rico and the states of Washington, Ohio,
12Indiana, New York, Nebraska, and eventually Illinois; Norma and
13her husband had 2 sons, 2 daughters, grandchildren, and a
14great-granddaughter; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Norma Everett has been working with Republican
16women's groups since 1963; her family moved to Lombard in the
17mid-1960s and she became active in the Lombard Republican
18Women's Club, serving as its President in 1973; she served
19standing and special committee chairs, as an election judge,
20and has attended several National Federation of Republican
21Women and International Federation of Republican Women
22conventions; she helped write a Pink Elephant Republican

1Women's Clubs booklet on club issues, served as a Republican
2booth worker for the DuPage County Fair for many years, and was
3a DuPage Federation of Republican Women's Club officer and
4committee person; in 2006, she helped organize the bringing
5together of 4 clubs (Lombard, Oak Brook, Villa Park, Elmhurst)
6to become the York Township Republican Women's Organization,
7and for 5 years she served as the organizations's secretary;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, A surprise party was held for Norma Everett by the
10York Township Republican Women's Organization at Maxfield's
11Restaurant in Lombard on March 29, 2014; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we honor Norma Everett on over 50 years as a member of
15Republican women's clubs and wish her the best in all her
16future endeavors; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to Norma Everett as an expression of our esteem and
19respect.
