HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to honor Growth Dimensions for their hard work and dedication in attracting business and economic development in the City of Belvidere and Boone County; and

WHEREAS, Growth Dimensions was activated in 1982 as a public-private corporation for economic development after being incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation; the organization was organized in 1979 by the City of Belvidere, Boone County, and the local Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, Today, Growth Dimensions coordinates and manages the strategic initiative projects identified in the Belvidere-Boone County Economic Development Strategic Plan, including business retention, expansion and attraction programs, the new AgTech Initiative, the Kishwaukee Riverfront Development, and the Transportation Initiative Project; and

WHEREAS, The organization works to market the area effectively to potential investors, advocates cooperative efforts to address common concerns of the communities in the region, and maintains close contact with State, city, village, and county officials and development staff regarding development codes, standards, and incentives; and

WHEREAS, Growth Dimensions has been a strong partner working with major companies such as Chrysler, which announced in 2012 that it will add 1,800 jobs at its Belvidere Assembly Plant, and Acument Global Technologies; and

WHEREAS, Growth Dimensions has also partnered with up and coming mid-size companies that continue to create jobs in the Boone County region, such as Wema Vogtland, a specialist company for retooling and overhauling of machine tools primarily for the automotive industry, and Pierce Distribution Services; and

WHEREAS, Growth Dimensions is ably led by Executive Director Kelly Galluzzo, Economic Development Manager Tammy English, and the organization's Board of Directors, including President Richard Van Evera, Vice President Kent Kniep, Treasurer Gregory Brown, and the area business leaders who sit on the Board; and

WHEREAS, Growth Dimensions serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication in retaining and attracting jobs and improving economic development in the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor the staff and board of directors of Growth Dimensions for their work in attracting economic development to the City of Belvidere and the Boone County region and ultimately helping the people of the State of Illinois; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Growth Dimensions as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
