HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Sam Ferri of Norridge, on being part of the Team USA 15U national team that won the 2013 Pan American Baseball Confederation (COPABE) 15U Pan American Championship; and

WHEREAS, Team USA is comprised of the best baseball players in the country and Sam Ferri, a sophomore at Notre Dame College Prep in Niles, was the only resident of Illinois to earn a spot on the team; and

WHEREAS, Sam Ferri was Team USA's starting catcher and earned the trust of the team's coaching staff with his top defensive skills and his advanced understanding of the position that he plays; and

WHEREAS, Team USA went 8 and 0 during its championship run from July 27-August 4, 2013 in Barranquilla, Colombia; and

WHEREAS, On August 4, Team USA defeated Cuba 6 to 1 in the championship game and earned the gold medal; and

WHEREAS, Sam Ferri has proven himself to be one of the country's elite baseball players and has brought great honor to the State of Illinois through his hard work and dedication to his sport, and by winning a gold medal in the Pan American Championship; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Sam Ferri on winning the 2013 Pan American Baseball Confederation (COPABE) 15U Pan American Championship with his team and wish him the best with all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Sam Ferri as an expression of our esteem and respect.
