HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Maura Beckman, who passed away on August 17, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Maura Beckman was born on January 19, 1948 in Lilly, Pennsylvania; she married Bruce Beckman in Montgomery County, Maryland; and

WHEREAS, Maura Beckman was a well-known storyteller and friend to all; she was well-known as "Miss Mickie" in the Junior Room of the Downers Grove Public Library and throughout her community; and

WHEREAS, Maura Beckman was an avid gardener and cook; and

WHEREAS, Maura Beckman is survived by her husband, Bruce; her daughter, Juliet; her son-in-law, Nathan; and her grandsons, Jackson Patrick and Nicholas Edward; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we designate the date of October 17, 2013 as "Mickie" Beckman Day in the State of Illinois in honor of Maura Beckman and her accomplishments and, along with her family and friends, mourn her passing; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Maura Beckman as an expression of our sympathy.
