HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of United States Air Force Captain Brandon Cyr, who passed away on April 27, 2013, in the Zabul province of southern Afghanistan, when the plane he was commanding crashed; and

WHEREAS, Capt. Brandon Cyr spent part of his childhood in Oswego and attended Traughber Junior High School; and

WHEREAS, Capt. Brandon Cyr was an instructor pilot and member of the 906th Air Refueling Squadron at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois; he also flew with members of the Illinois Air National Guard's 126th Air Refueling Wing; and

WHEREAS, Capt. Brandon Cyr was known for his natural ability to lead and mentor others; at the time of his death, he had earned more than 1,700 flying hours - 900 of those during time of combat; and

WHEREAS, Capt. Brandon Cyr had received the Meritorious Service Medal, five Air Medals, and an Achievement Medal for his exceptional service; and

WHEREAS, Capt. Brandon Cyr is survived by his parents, Commander Phillip G. Cyr of the United States Navy and his wife, Deborah; his older sister, Bobbi Jo Cyr; and his maternal grandparents, Darryl and Diane Tidaback; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Captain Brandon Cyr; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Captain Brandon Cyr and his willingness to serve our country, which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Captain Brandon Cyr as a symbol of our sincere sympathy and gratitude for his service.
