HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of United
4States Air Force Captain Brandon Cyr, who passed away on April
527, 2013, in the Zabul province of southern Afghanistan, when
6the plane he was commanding crashed; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Capt. Brandon Cyr spent part of his childhood in
8Oswego and attended Traughber Junior High School; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Capt. Brandon Cyr was an instructor pilot and
10member of the 906th Air Refueling Squadron at Scott Air Force
11Base in Illinois; he also flew with members of the Illinois Air
12National Guard's 126th Air Refueling Wing; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Capt. Brandon Cyr was known for his natural
14ability to lead and mentor others; at the time of his death, he
15had earned more than 1,700 flying hours - 900 of those during
16time of combat; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Capt. Brandon Cyr had received the Meritorious
18Service Medal, five Air Medals, and an Achievement Medal for
19his exceptional service; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Capt. Brandon Cyr is survived by his parents,

1Commander Phillip G. Cyr of the United States Navy and his
2wife, Deborah; his older sister, Bobbi Jo Cyr; and his maternal
3grandparents, Darryl and Diane Tidaback; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
6we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
7Captain Brandon Cyr; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Captain Brandon Cyr
9and his willingness to serve our country, which led to him
10making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Captain Brandon Cyr as a symbol of
13our sincere sympathy and gratitude for his service.
