HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Hattie Dansby on
4her 95th birthday which occurred on April 19, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Hattie Dansby was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on
6April 19, 1918; she graduated from Pearl High School in
7Nashville, Tennessee, and received her bachelors of arts in
8elementary education from Tennessee State University in 1943;
9she married Charles Dansby in 1943 and they moved to Chicago;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, After Hattie Dansby raised 5 children, she pursued
12her career with the University of Chicago teaching children to
13read; she also worked as support staff in the Chicago Public
14School System, working with children with speech and hearing
15disabilities; she retired in 1998; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Hattie Dansby has received recognition from the
17Institute of Community Leaders and the Mayor's Youth Award for
18her volunteer services in Chicago; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Hattie Dansby has been active in numerous clubs
20and organizations including the 400-500 East 91st Street Block
21Club, the Pearl High Alumni Association, the Tennessee State

1University Chicago Alumni Chapter, the Chesterfield Community
2Council, the Urban League, the NAACP, and the Ora Higgins Youth
3Foundation; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Hattie Dansby is a member of New Orleans Baptist
5Church in Chicago; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8we are pleased to congratulate Hattie Dansby on her 95th
9birthday; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to Hattie Dansby as an expression of our esteem and
12respect.
