HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Hattie Dansby on her 95th birthday which occurred on April 19, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Hattie Dansby was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on April 19, 1918; she graduated from Pearl High School in Nashville, Tennessee, and received her bachelors of arts in elementary education from Tennessee State University in 1943; she married Charles Dansby in 1943 and they moved to Chicago; and

WHEREAS, After Hattie Dansby raised 5 children, she pursued her career with the University of Chicago teaching children to read; she also worked as support staff in the Chicago Public School System, working with children with speech and hearing disabilities; she retired in 1998; and

WHEREAS, Hattie Dansby has received recognition from the Institute of Community Leaders and the Mayor's Youth Award for her volunteer services in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Hattie Dansby has been active in numerous clubs and organizations including the 400-500 East 91st Street Block Club, the Pearl High Alumni Association, the Tennessee State University Chicago Alumni Chapter, the Chesterfield Community Council, the Urban League, the NAACP, and the Ora Higgins Youth Foundation; and

WHEREAS, Hattie Dansby is a member of New Orleans Baptist Church in Chicago; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we are pleased to congratulate Hattie Dansby on her 95th birthday; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Hattie Dansby as an expression of our esteem and respect.
