HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The Illinois General Assembly has the power and
3duty to address issues related to protections for elderly
4at-risk adults; and
 
5    WHEREAS, At-risk elderly adults may be subjected to
6financial exploitation, and the State of Illinois has a
7responsibility to protect these persons; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Issues related to protections for at-risk elderly
9adults are a matter of state-wide concern and should be
10addressed by the General Assembly; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
13SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that the Senior Financial
14Exploitation Task Force is created; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That the Task Force shall study the problem of
16financial exploitation of at-risk elderly adults in Illinois
17and prepare recommendations for the consideration of the
18General Assembly; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That each legislative leader shall appoint 3
20members to the Task Force; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That, in appointing members to the Task Force,
2the legislative leaders shall consider that professional
3experience in diverse elderly and senior citizen fields may be
4a positive qualification; and be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That the Task Force shall take voluntary
6assistance and testimony from individuals and professional
7organizations and institutions; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That the members of the Task Force shall serve
9without compensation; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That the Department on Aging shall provide
11staffing and administrative support services to the Task Force
12upon request; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That the Task Force shall submit a report of its
14findings on or before December 31, 2013.
