SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
330 ILCS 65/3  from Ch. 126 1/2, par. 60

    Amends the Disabled Veterans Housing Act. Provides that the Department of Veterans' Affairs shall adopt general rules for determining the question of whether an applicant was a resident of this State at the time he or she entered the service or was discharged while being a resident of this State (rather than whether an applicant was a resident of this State at the time he entered the service), and shall prescribe by rule the nature of the proof to be submitted to establish the fact of residence.

1    AN ACT concerning military service.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Disabled Veterans Housing Act is amended by
5changing Section 3 as follows:
 
6    (330 ILCS 65/3)  (from Ch. 126 1/2, par. 60)
7    Sec. 3. Application for assistance under this Act shall be
8made by the veteran to the Illinois Department of Veterans'
9Affairs and shall be accompanied by satisfactory evidence that
10the veteran has been approved by the Administrator of Veterans'
11Affairs for assistance in acquiring a suitable dwelling unit or
12in remodeling a dwelling not adapted to the requirements of his
13disability. The application shall contain such information as
14will enable the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs to
15determine the amount of assistance to which the veteran is
16entitled. The Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs shall
17adopt general rules for determining the question of whether an
18applicant was a resident of this State at the time he or she
19entered the service or was discharged while being a resident of
20this State, and shall prescribe by rule the nature of the proof
21to be submitted to establish the fact of residence. The
22Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs shall adopt
23guidelines for determining types of remodeling and adaptations

1which are reasonably necessary because of a veteran's
2disability, for a veteran eligible for assistance under Section
32.1 of this Act.
