SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

305 ILCS 5/5-1.5 new

Amends the Medical Assistance Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code. Provides that eligibility criteria for voluntary populations to receive medical assistance approved under the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, including previously ineligible individuals with incomes up to 133% of the federal poverty level, shall not be expanded. Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning public aid.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by adding Section 5-1.5 as follows:

(305 ILCS 5/5-1.5 new)

Sec. 5-1.5. Eligibility expansions; voluntary populations. Eligibility criteria for voluntary populations to receive medical assistance approved under the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, including previously ineligible individuals with incomes up to 133% of the federal poverty level, shall not be expanded.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
