SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Sue A. "Suzy" Carter of Springfield,
4formerly of Beardstown, who passed away on August 17, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Suzy Carter was born in Rensselaer, Indiana to
6Virgil Frederick and Ione Josephine (Overton) Linback on
7September 12, 1942; she married Robert Carter at the First
8Christian Church in Rensselaer, Indiana on October 3, 1964; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Suzy Carter began her 38-year career as a
10Registered Nurse working in Oncology in Rensselaer, Indiana;
11she moved to Beardstown and worked at Beardstown Hospital,
12Culbertson Hospital in Rushville, and Passavant Hospital in
13Jacksonville; she retired from the Springfield Clinic in 2006;
14she was the owner and operator of the Clothes Connection in
15Beardstown from 1980 until 1982; and
 
16    WHEREAS, In 1971, Suzy Carter was the first woman to serve
17on the Beardstown City Council; she was instrumental in
18starting the first softball program in Beardstown for girls
19ages nine to twelve; she was a member of the First Evangelical
20Lutheran Church in Beardstown; she was an avid fan of the
21Chicago Cubs, the Indiana Hoosiers, and the Indianapolis 500;
22she enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing bridge, skiing in

1Colorado with her family, gardening, cooking, antiquing with
2Bert, and attending her grandchildren's activities; family was
3most important to her; she will be remembered for her kindness
4and warm smile; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Suzy Carter was preceded in death by her parents
6and two of her brothers, Fred and Steve Linback; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Suzy Carter is survived by her husband, Robert;
8her children, Craig (Christine Wolski) Carter, Missy (Scot)
9Frankenreider, Raelene (John) Lawless, and Sonya (Jeff)
10Schuette; her grandchildren, Andrew, Alex, and Joe
11Frankenreider, Annika and Allaina Lawless, and Sam and Olivia
12Schuette; her brothers, Jim (Susan) Linback, Rick (Nancy)
13Linback, Bob (Debbie) Linback, and Dave Linback; and many
14nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Sue A. "Suzy" Carter and extend our sincere condolences to her
18family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Suzy Carter as an expression of our
22deepest sympathy.
