SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James "Jim" "Cuz" Coussens, formerly of East Moline, who passed away on May 17, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Jim Coussens was born in a farm house near Woonsocket, South Dakota to Alfred and Eva (Wingert) Coussens on March 19, 1930; he attended Coal Town Grade School, Rock Island District 47, and graduated from Moline High School in 1948; he served in the United States Army for two years, 18 months with the 82nd Airborne Division; he married Violet Larson on May 17, 1952; and

WHEREAS, Jim Coussens worked as a Lineman, Splicer's Helper, Installer Repairman, Central Office Tech, and Toll Tech for Illinois Bell; he retired in 1988; and

WHEREAS, Jim Coussens was a member of the Moline American Legion, the Telephone Pioneers, and St. Anne Church, East Moline; he enjoyed traveling, fishing, growing tomatoes, 1950s music, and his computer; and

WHEREAS, Jim Coussens was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Wallace Coussens; and

WHEREAS, Jim Coussens is survived by his wife, Violet; his daughters, Patricia Brinker, Donna Curtis, and Linda Coussens; his two grandchildren; and his seven great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James "Jim" "Cuz" Coussens and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jim Coussens as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
