SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Benjamin F. "Ben" Truby of Waukegan, who passed away on April 6, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Ben Truby was born on January 16, 1922; he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific aboard the destroyer escort USS Burden R. Hastings; and

WHEREAS, Ben Truby was employed at Houdaille Hershey, Johnson Motors, and Outboard Marine; he retired from AMCO tools; and

WHEREAS, Ben Truby was a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waukegan; he enjoyed gardening, wood working, bird watching, and card playing; he logged many miles walking in the Lake County Forest Preserves and in his neighborhood; he especially enjoyed fishing for perch on Waukegan's North Pier; and

WHEREAS, Ben Truby was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, LaVerne; his parents; and six siblings; and

WHEREAS, Ben Truby is survived by his sons, Trent (Susan), Todd, and Thomas (Carol); two granddaughters; four step-granddaughters; and seven great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Benjamin F. "Ben" Truby and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ben Truby as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
