SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Susan Marie Rogal of LaSalle, who passed
4away on April 19, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Susan Rogal was born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan to
6Allyne Cushing and Marie Dorman Litchfield on December 28,
71934; she attended Grosse Pointe Country Day School; she earned
8her associate's degree from Colby Junior College in New London,
9New Hampshire; she earned her Bachelor or Arts in Music and her
10M.M. in Piano Performance and Literature from the University of
11Michigan; she married Samuel J. Rogal at Grosse Pointe Memorial
12Presbyterian Church on August 14, 1965; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Susan Rogal held positions on the music faculties
14of the public schools in Grand Rapids, Michigan, followed by
15appointments to the music departments of Oregon College of
16Education in Monmouth, Oregon and Iowa State University in
17Ames, Iowa; following her marriage, she maintained private
18piano studios in Ames, Iowa, Oswego, New York, West Point,
19Mississippi, and LaSalle; she also directed Presbyterian
20Church choirs in West Point, Mississippi and Normal; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Susan Rogal lived in LaSalle for more than three
22decades; she dedicated herself to the teaching of hundreds of

1students, impressing upon them the culture and intellectual
2values of appreciating music and of achieving both competence
3in as well as enjoyment from piano performance; she and her
4husband moved from LaSalle to Normal in August 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Susan Rogal is survived by her husband, Samuel;
6her sons, Geoffrey Carver Rogal and James Paul (Jenni) Rogal;
7her sister, Sally (Patrick) McEvoy; and her grandchildren,
8Mamush, Sitota, Fekadu, Azaria, and Reverie Rogal; therefore,
9be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Susan Marie Rogal and extend our sincere condolences to her
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Susan Rogal as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
