SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Durwood "Durk" Fogle of Rock Island, who passed away on October 29, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Durk Fogle was born to Dewitt and Essie Mae (McKinney) Fogle in Briar, Missouri on February 14, 1927; he graduated from Doniphan High School in 1943; he served in the U.S. Army during World War Two in the Asiatic Pacific Theater; he married Cathleen (Trimble) DePaepe in Rock Island on August 20, 1976; and

WHEREAS, Durk Fogle worked at International Harvester Farmall Works in Rock Island; he retired as a foreman after more than 32 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Durk Fogle loved fishing and hunting, especially trips to Missouri every spring to hunt wild turkeys; his lifetime passion was playing checkers, and he won many state and regional titles throughout the years; he was always available to offer a helping hand and good advice to family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Durk Fogle was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dennis; and his brother, Bryce; and

WHEREAS, Durk Fogle is survived by his wife; his son, Durwood (Laura) Fogle Jr.; his stepchildren, Angie (John) Schneekloth, Teresa (Dan) Ball, and Garry (Janean) DePaepe; his sisters, Sonja Hedley and Bernice Gillian; his grandsons, Dalton DePaepe and Jason Fogle; and his many extended family and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Durwood "Durk" Fogle and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Durk Fogle as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
