SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John Joseph "Whitey" Conery of Bloomington, who passed away on October 1, 2020; and

WHEREAS, John Joseph Conery was born in Bloomington to Maurice J. and Mae C. Smith Conery on October 18, 1942; he served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War; he married Linda Kay Lusher in Springfield on January 8, 1988, and she preceded him in death on August 3, 2017; and

WHEREAS, John Joseph Conery was an active 51-year member of Laborers Local #362 in Bloomington; and

WHEREAS, John Joseph Conery enjoyed golfing and attending all University of Illinois sporting events; he was a friend of Bill W. and was very active in the recovering community, inspiring everyone he met; and

WHEREAS, John Joseph Conery was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his brother, James; and

WHEREAS, John Joseph Conery is survived by his sister, Jan (Terry) Woith; his son, Rusty (Beth) Dungey; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John Joseph "Whitey" Conery and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Joseph Conery as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
