SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John Joseph "Whitey" Conery of
4Bloomington, who passed away on October 1, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Joseph Conery was born in Bloomington to
6Maurice J. and Mae C. Smith Conery on October 18, 1942; he
7served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War; he married
8Linda Kay Lusher in Springfield on January 8, 1988, and she
9preceded him in death on August 3, 2017; and
 
10    WHEREAS, John Joseph Conery was an active 51-year member of
11Laborers Local #362 in Bloomington; and
 
12    WHEREAS, John Joseph Conery enjoyed golfing and attending
13all University of Illinois sporting events; he was a friend of
14Bill W. and was very active in the recovering community,
15inspiring everyone he met; and
 
16    WHEREAS, John Joseph Conery was preceded in death by his
17parents; his wife; and his brother, James; and
 
18    WHEREAS, John Joseph Conery is survived by his sister, Jan
19(Terry) Woith; his son, Rusty (Beth) Dungey; three
20grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3John Joseph "Whitey" Conery and extend our sincere condolences
4to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
5it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of John Joseph Conery as an expression
8of our deepest sympathy.
