SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ronald Eugene Nichols of Pleasant Shade, Tennessee, formerly of Atlanta, Illinois, who passed away on October 1, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Nichols was born in Atlanta, Illinois to Paul and Oletha (Richard) Nichols on May 7, 1938; he graduated from Atlanta Community High School in 1956; he served as a military police officer in the United States Army and married Janice "Cathy" Wiggers on June 30, 1962; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Nichols retired from Bridgestone-Firestone after 32 years of employment; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Nichols enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and making toys for children; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Nichols was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Pat Murphey and Tenna Kiley; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Nichols is survived by his wife, Cathy; his son, Christopher (Vickie) Nichols; his sister, Barbara (Don) Baurer; his grandchildren, Jessica (Daniel) Hendrick, Brandon (Candice) Nichols, and Kevin Nichols; and his great-grandson, Gage Nichols; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ronald Eugene Nichols and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ronald Nichols as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
