SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gregg Steven Chadwick of Bloomington, who
4passed away on September 9, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gregg Chadwick was born in Dexter, Maine; he was
6adopted at birth by Jeanne and Harold Chadwick, and they
7preceded him in death; he grew up in Warwick, Rhode Island; he
8went to Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick, Rhode Island
9and earned his undergraduate degree and MBA from Boston
10University; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Gregg Chadwick worked as a healthcare executive
12and managed several local medical practices, including the
13University of Illinois College of Medicine Pediatric
14Department and Decatur Memorial Hospital; he became a Certified
15Medical Practice Executive and was president of the Illinois
16Medical Group Management Association in 2014; his recent and
17most meaningful work began in 2018 when he became the chief
18operating officer at Marcfirst, a non-profit agency serving
19people with developmental disabilities based in Normal; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Gregg Chadwick prioritized civic work,
21volunteerism, and giving back; he was a hospice volunteer in
22Boston in the 1980s; after moving to Illinois, he coached chess

1and served on the Citizens Advisory Council with the Unit 5
2school board; he served on the Peoria Area World Affairs
3Council Board of Directors, the Multicultural Leadership
4Program Advisory Board, B-N Advantage, and the Illinois Prairie
5Community Foundation Board of Directors; he was a board member
6of Heartland Community College for 18 years and served as board
7chair for 11 years; he held several positions on the Illinois
8Community College Trustee Association (ICCTA) Executive Board,
9and he began his term as president of ICCTA in 2020; he was
10awarded the ICCTA's Ray Hartstein Trustee Achievement Award in
112020; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Gregg Chadwick will be remembered for being a
13prudent leader, a very smart problem-solver, a good human
14being, and a gentle, loving soul; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Gregg Chadwick is survived by his wife, Robyn
16Walter; his children, Ben Walter, Avery Chadwick, and Hallie
17Martin-Chadwick; his adopted brother; his two biological
18brothers; his two biological sisters; his nephews; his
19mother-in-law and father-in-law; his brothers-in-law; his
20sister-in-law; and his dear friends; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
22ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
23Gregg Steven Chadwick and extend our sincere condolences to his

1family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
2further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to the family of Gregg Chadwick as an expression of
5our deepest sympathy.
