SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John W. Henry formerly of Rock Island, who passed on September 14, 2020; and

WHEREAS, John Henry was born to Ray and Elsie (Ewert) Henry in Rock Island on June 29, 1923; he served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946; he married Floriene E. Chinlund on February 27, 1946; he earned his civil engineering degree from the University of Illinois in 1953; and

WHEREAS, John Henry worked at John Deere for 19 years; in 1969, he and his wife purchased the Novelty Shack in Rock Island and operated the business until 1987; and

WHEREAS, John Henry loved golfing and fishing with his wife and best friends, Bus and Dee Anderson; he truly loved spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, John Henry was preceded in death by his parents and his wife; and

WHEREAS, John Henry is survived by his children, Dan (Lynn) Henry and Diane (Terry) Crawford; his grandchildren, Scott (Kristie) Crawford, Jamie (Karrie) Crawford, and Briana Henry; and his six great-grandchildren, Mason, Madison, McKenna, Thatcher, Harrison, and Kate Crawford; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John W. Henry and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Henry as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
