SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jerry D. Lemmon II of Springfield, who passed away on May 5, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Lemmon was born to Jerry D. Lemmon Sr. and Anne (Mathias) Lemmon in Springfield on February 23, 1968; he attended Christ the King Grade School and Griffin High School and graduated from Indiana University, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Lemmon was one of the seven original Broker/Partner/Owners of The Real Estate Group and had a very successful career in real estate; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Lemmon was a member of the Island Bay Yacht Club, Aqua Club, and Sigma Chi Fraternity; he was a Life Member of Christ the King Parish; he was an active contributor and advocate for the First Step Women's Crisis Center and served as auctioneer for many charity events in the Springfield area; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Lemmon enjoyed traveling to tropical locations to visit his loving sister and her fiancé; he was everyone's weatherman, keeping friends and loved ones updated on upcoming storms; his favorite pastimes were attending Sacred Heart-Griffin football games as well as boating, golfing, fishing, and being near the ocean; he was a compassionate man with a heart of gold, who would help anyone at any time; he will be especially remembered for his sense of humor; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Lemmon was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Lemmon is survived by his beloved mother, Anne; his sister, Lisa Lemmon (fiancé Jason Godin); his half-brother, Richard Tuxhorn, his special friends Brenda and Tate (Scarbrough) Weddigen, Jim, and Foxer; and his several aunts, uncles, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jerry D. Lemmon II and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jerry Lemmon as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
