SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Denise Ellen St. Peters of Godfrey, who passed away on April 15, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Denise St. Peters was born in Alton to Donald and Dorothy (Collins) St. Peters on September 18, 1951; she attended Marquette High School and graduated from Blackburn College in Carlinville with a degree in business; and

WHEREAS, Denise St. Peters had a long career in nursing home administration and adult day care and veterans care management in the Alton and St. Louis areas; and

WHEREAS, Denise St. Peters continued to be a strong advocate for the elderly after retirement; she volunteered with the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), running seminars for seniors and lobbying on their behalf in Springfield; and

WHEREAS, Denise St. Peters was active in the Alton Junior League and served on the board of Madison County Catholic Charities; she volunteered at the YWCA, the Oasis Women's Center, and St. Ambrose Catholic Church; and

WHEREAS, Denise St. Peters was affectionately know as "Nesie" by her family; she loved doing crafts, refinishing furniture, decorating, antiquing, and going to sales; family was very important to her, and she will always be remembered for her kind heart, her sense of fun, and her willingness to help anyone, anytime; and

WHEREAS, Denise St. Peters was preceded in death by her parents; her uncle, Virgil St. Peters; her brother-in-law, Rick Watts; and her sister-in-law, Jackie St. Peters; and

WHEREAS, Denise St. Peters is survived by her siblings and their spouses, Don and Gerry St. Peters, Darlene Watts, Dale and Nancy St. Peters, Doug St. Peters, and Danelle St. Peters; 16 nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and her close friends from grade school, Mary Hoekstra, Judy Peipert, and Jan Dorsey; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Denise Ellen St. Peters and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Denise St. Peters as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
