SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Denise Ellen St. Peters of Godfrey, who
4passed away on April 15, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Denise St. Peters was born in Alton to Donald and
6Dorothy (Collins) St. Peters on September 18, 1951; she
7attended Marquette High School and graduated from Blackburn
8College in Carlinville with a degree in business; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Denise St. Peters had a long career in nursing
10home administration and adult day care and veterans care
11management in the Alton and St. Louis areas; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Denise St. Peters continued to be a strong
13advocate for the elderly after retirement; she volunteered with
14the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), running
15seminars for seniors and lobbying on their behalf in
16Springfield; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Denise St. Peters was active in the Alton Junior
18League and served on the board of Madison County Catholic
19Charities; she volunteered at the YWCA, the Oasis Women's
20Center, and St. Ambrose Catholic Church; and

1    WHEREAS, Denise St. Peters was affectionately know as
2"Nesie" by her family; she loved doing crafts, refinishing
3furniture, decorating, antiquing, and going to sales; family
4was very important to her, and she will always be remembered
5for her kind heart, her sense of fun, and her willingness to
6help anyone, anytime; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Denise St. Peters was preceded in death by her
8parents; her uncle, Virgil St. Peters; her brother-in-law, Rick
9Watts; and her sister-in-law, Jackie St. Peters; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Denise St. Peters is survived by her siblings and
11their spouses, Don and Gerry St. Peters, Darlene Watts, Dale
12and Nancy St. Peters, Doug St. Peters, and Danelle St. Peters;
1316 nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and
14her close friends from grade school, Mary Hoekstra, Judy
15Peipert, and Jan Dorsey; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Denise Ellen St. Peters and extend our sincere condolences to
19her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of Denise St. Peters as an expression
