| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Joseph J. Ambrose of LeRoy, who passed | 4 | | away on October 2, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Ambrose was born in Champaign to James and | 6 | | Pearl (Judy) Ambrose on April 29, 1927; he graduated from | 7 | | University High School in Urbana and enlisted in the United | 8 | | States Navy at the age of 17, serving in the Pacific during | 9 | | World War II; he married Charlotte Mittendorf at Holy Cross | 10 | | Church in Champaign on August 18, 1948 and received a | 11 | | bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Illinois in | 12 | | 1949; he graduated from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking | 13 | | at Rutgers University; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Ambrose worked for the FDIC as a federal | 15 | | bank examiner until joining LeRoy State Bank in 1967, where he | 16 | | served as president and later chairman of the board, retiring | 17 | | in 1995; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Ambrose was active in many organizations in | 19 | | LeRoy, including the Crumbaugh Library Board, the LeRoy Boy | 20 | | Scouts, the LeRoy Kiwanis, the LeRoy Chamber of Commerce, and | 21 | | the Red Cross; he was a member and past president of the LeRoy | 22 | | Country Club; he was also a member of the University of |

| 1 | | Illinois President's Council, St. Mary's Church of Downs, and | 2 | | was a life member of American Legion Post 79; and | 3 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Ambrose enjoyed playing golf and spending | 4 | | time in Florida; he was an avid reader, particularly of books | 5 | | on American history and enjoyed the company of his family and | 6 | | his friends; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Ambrose was preceded in death by his son, | 8 | | Gregory R. Ambrose; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Ambrose is survived by his loving wife, | 10 | | Charlotte; his children, Julie Ambrose, Mary Ambrose, Joseph | 11 | | (Julianne) Ambrose, James (Kathryn) Ambrose, and Margaret | 12 | | Ambrose; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; | 13 | | therefore, be it
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 16 | | Joseph J. Ambrose, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 17 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 18 | | further
