SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Renee F. Buecker of Oak Park, who passed
4away on May 21, 2017, at the age of 88; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Renee Buecker was born in Frankfurt, Germany to
6Wolf and Blanka Frankel on January 25, 1929; at the age of 7,
7her family immigrated to the Hyde Park area of Chicago; she
8graduated from Hyde Park High School and the University of
9Illinois Urbana-Champaign; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Renee Buecker worked as a copy writer for Sears
11Roebuck in Chicago, where she met her husband, Robert E.
12Buecker; they were married in St. Louis, Missouri in 1952; they
13returned to Chicago, where they settled on the North Side; they
14moved to Oak Park in 1957; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Renee Buecker began teaching 1st grade at
16Paderewski School in the Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago,
17while taking care of her daughters; she returned to school and
18began a career in computer programming, where she remained
19until 1990; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Renee Buecker was a volunteer at the Chicago
21Lighthouse and the Field Museum of National History in Chicago;

1she was a lifelong liberal and supported many progressive
2causes; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Renee Buecker enjoyed traveling around the world
4with her husband and listening to music; her favorite artists
5were Johann Strauss and John Philip Sousa; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Renee Buecker was known by her family and friends
7to be loving, compassionate, and an active volunteer within her
8community; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Renee Buecker was preceded in death by her parents
10and her husband of 57 years, Robert; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Renee Buecker is survived by her daughters, Janet
12(Ronald Martin) Buecker and Ellen Buecker (Jerry) Kott; her
13grandchildren, Megan (Justin DeVine), Hillary (Nick) Marshall,
14and Erin (William Pearce) Kott; her great-grandchildren,
15Charlotte and Jack Marshall; her sister, Ursula (Edward)
16Wittert; and her nephew and nieces, Bill (Donna) Wittert,
17Barbara (Keith) Apgar, and Susan (David) Kern; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Renee F. Buecker, and extend our sincere condolences to her
21family, friends, and all that knew and loved her; and be it
