SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Bernice Jane "Bunny" Gora of Crystal
4Lake, who passed away on September 3, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bernice Gora was born in Chicago to Thomas Beatty
6and Grace Schultz on August 29, 1929; she married John R. Gora
7in Chicago in November 1955, and they later divorced; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Bernice Gora worked as a telephone switchboard
9operator at Passion Construction Company; after moving to
10Crystal Lake, she opened Bunny's Ceramic Studio in her
11basement; she taught ceramics for over 40 years; in addition to
12teaching ceramics, she also held many other jobs, including
13house cleaner, waitress, and cook, until she joined Illinois
14Bell Telephone Company as a repair operator, from which she
15retired in 1989; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Bernice Gora was a member of the Church of Jesus
17Christ of Latter-day Saints, Crystal Lake; she volunteered for
18many organizations, including Illinois Children's Home and Aid
19Society, McHenry County Multiple Sclerosis Society, Project
20Linus, and the McHenry County Senior Services Association in
21Crystal Lake; she enjoyed ceramics, gardening, knitting, and
22crocheting blankets; and

1    WHEREAS, Bernice Gora was preceded in death by her parents;
2and her sister, Patricia Roderick; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Bernice Gora is survived by her daughters, Kitty
4(Colin) Comer, Judy Sopala, and Cindy (Tom) Hayden; her
5grandsons, Thomas Spence and Luke Hayden; her niece, Patricia
6Roderick; her nephew, Michael Roderick; and many lifelong
7friends; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Bernice Jane "Bunny" Gora, and extend our sincere condolences
11to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
12it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Bernice Gora as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
