SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Raymond Burdette Carlson of Ottawa, who passed away on September 6, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Ray Carlson was born in Rockford to Sven Otto and Ellen (Hallen) Carlson on January 2, 1917; he married Vertie Mae Thomas at Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvard on November 22, 1947; and

WHEREAS, Ray Carlson worked as a farmer in the Belvidere area and a milkman; he sold livestock feed, and worked in auto part sales until he bought the Tow Path House in Ottawa, where he refinished furniture until the age of 95; and

WHEREAS, Ray Carlson was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottawa, the American Legion Post #33, the Ottawa Moose Lodge, Odd Fellows, and The International Society of Apple Parer Enthusiasts; and

WHEREAS, Ray Carlson was preceded in death by his wife, Vertie; and his siblings, William, Donald, and Wilmer Carlson, Audrey Meyer, Robert Johnson, and Adeline Rudeen; and

WHEREAS, Ray Carlson is survived by his children, Lynn Carlson, Paul (Sandy) Carlson, Gene (Jayne) Carlson, John M. (Gail) Carlson, and Nancy (Dennis) Murry; his grandchildren, Chanda (Ron) Marti, Tony (Lisa) Carlson, Arik (Kim) Carlson, Andrew Carlson, Michelle (Eric) Peterson, Krista (Steve) Blatt, Mike Carlson, Christy (Al) Gray, Chad Murry, and Stacey (Alex) Burke; his great-grandchildren, Dakota, Marti, Kenny, Tyler, Vivian, Bryce and Belle Carlson, Noah Smith, Libby Blatt, Mikayla, Trevor, and Thomas Carlson, Anna and James Burke, Brynn and Alexander Gray, and Joel and Noah Morstatter; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Raymond Burdette Carlson, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ray Carlson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
